Far North Branch
Who We Are and What We Do
We are a friendly group of members of the New Zealand Society of Genealogists (NZSG) living in the very Far North of New Zealand, who meet to support our shared interest in researching family history and whakapapa, not just in the Far North but also throughout the rest of New Zealand and overseas. We encourage others to join us. We provide introductory courses as required. Most of our extensive New Zealand and overseas research resources are housed at the Far North Regional Museum, where our members - and the public - can use them. Members also enjoy a bi-monthly newsletter, access to non-public reference material, and the benefits of the wider NZSG network and resources.
The Far North Branch of NZSG is a registered charity, # cc 33989.
Meetings
When? First Saturday of the months from February to December.
Where? Usually at the Freemasons Hall, Pukepoto Rd, Kaitaia.
Time? 11.30am til 3pm.
Because most of the business of the Branch is handled by an elected committee, the meetings deal mainly with helping members with their family history research, through informal problem-solving sessions, sharing practical information about using websites and other resources, and hosting speakers on specialised topics. A shared lunch around noon provides the added opportunity for us to get to know one another better.
